Five AC System Parts That Need an Annual Inspection

We realize that it’s fall now and things are cooler, but it’s never too early to plan your annual spring AC check for your car, SUV, or truck. There are five parts in particular that need to be inspected to ensure that your AC keeps you cool all summer long. We are going to list the parts below. Inspecting and servicing these parts (if necessary) is part of our AC maintenance service.

1. Compressor

The compressor needs to be inspected in the spring because it hasn’t been used for months. Unfortunately, when the compressor isn’t used, it tends to break down. We will test the compressor to ensure it is working as it should be. This includes compressing the refrigerant gas into liquid and circulating that liquid to cool off the incoming air.

2. Condenser

The condenser also needs an inspection because it can be damaged easily by road debris. The reason why is that the condenser is located right behind the front grille. This location allows the condenser to use incoming air to keep the refrigerant cool. The condenser also uses a fan to help with this task. We will make certain that your condenser is not damaged and operating properly.

3. Condenser Fan

We will also inspect the condenser fan. It, too, can get damaged by anything that is small enough to fit through the grille. We will test the fan to make sure it runs while the air conditioner system is on so that you always have cold refrigerant circulating through the system. You cannot have cold air blowing out of the vents unless the refrigerant is cold.

4. Electrical System

One thing that can directly affect the condenser fan is the electrical system. If there is a malfunction in the electrical system, this needs to be resolved in order for your air conditioning system to work properly. We will inspect your vehicle’s electrical system to make sure there is nothing about which you should worry. This includes replacing any frayed wires.

5. Refrigerant

Finally, your air conditioning system is not going to keep you cool if there is not enough refrigerant circulating through the system. As such, we will check the refrigerant level to make sure that it has not evaporated or leaked out of the system. If the level is low, we will check for leaks and repair them if we find any. We will also add refrigerant to the system.
